Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you amazing women out there! This is my first Mother's Day and it feels so special. Unlike a birthday or Christmas, this is a holiday dedicated to the hard work and self-sacrifice that all parents go through. I found this amazing poem that fits perfectly:

A Mother's Love

By Helen Steiner Rice

A Mother's love is something that no on can explain,

It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,

It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may

For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . .

It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . .

It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,

And it glows with all the beautyof the rarest, brightest gems . . .

It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,

And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . .

A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand

And another wondrous evidence of God's tender guiding hand.

This poem is so true and I know every mom feels this way. You can't descibe how completely in love you fall in with your child. The love is so intense and overwhelming that you would do anything to make sure that your child is happy, healthy, and has all the support and love he could ever need or want. You set aside your own desires and needs to make sure that your child's needs are taken care of first. You lose sleep every night for the first year, you spend countless hours just holding and taking your child in. You cry inside when they cry outside and when they are in pain or not feeling well, you desperately wish you could take their place and take away their pain. And when your baby looks into your eyes and takes your finger in his tiny hand, your heart just melts and you are so overcome with love that your eyes begin to tear up. It is truly indescribable and truly amazing and I feel so blessed to be in this role as a mom and I have learned so much. My life is truly blessed just by having my little man in my life.

Happy Mother's Day! Relax, enjoy, and focus on you for one day out of the year, you deserve it!

A Snapshot of Life....

Life moves too quickly. Our little boy started walking today. He's not quite to the point where he walks everywhere, but he can get to and from whatever point he desires as long as he stays focused. He's so adorable! He even claps while he walks as if to say, "I'm doing such a good job, I'll cheer for me too!". Before we know it, he will be in preschool, kindergarten, junior high and high school. He is such an amazing little man. He brings a whole new light to our lives and a new meaning and purpose. We are no longer able to be self-centered and put our wants first. Now we WANT to provide for him first to ensure that he will have a great life full of happiness and closeness. We will always be here for our little man. Only one more month, and he will be one year old. We may not have all the bells and whistles and all the fancy things that life can provide, but we do have love and laughter. Wow, life just moves too fast. But we are loving every second of the ride!
